i9 9900KS

Hi fellow RC freaks, I walked into my computer store saw an i9 9900KS and bought it on impulse as my motherboard BIOS had been updated for it that day, what the heck as I only have one kid now at a private school

Well I have it oc'd top 5.3 GHZ and its stable and cool on a 360mm triple radiator Water cooling loop.

I am about to give RFX and RF9 a crack. Should be interesting as my i7 9700K was running on 5.2GHz.

Cpu speed isn't a factor with RF9, 10 year old PC's will run it just as well as new computers. It's an 32 bit software that utilizes just one core. RFX is a little more reliant on a good CPU but it's not really optimized for multiple cores and won't be since it's no longer in development.

Money spent on a GPU is money better spent when you already have a decent CPU,Unless you're planning on playing modern game. I've been playing the new Modern Warfare and it most definitely will tax a modern computer as it runs all 8 threads on my 7700k at 80-90% and 100% utilization of my 1080ti.... I'm thinking about a GPU upgrade for some of that Ray Tracing in the next few months.

Yeah well not really I sold my i7 9700K on Gumtree for 300 USD and its worth it as I don't just use my PC for RF9 I run a few other games FPS and Aerofly Fs2 in VR and to get all cores at 5.3Ghz for a 200 buck changeover it was definitely worth it.

If you think 200 bucks is a lot don't ask about what my sons private school fees were and I am glad I wont be paying any more.

I don't just use my PC just for RF9, I use it for some FPS shooters and Aerofly Fs2 in VR and I agree its not worth it for the old underwhelming coding in RF9.

I already have a Gigabyte Aorus GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Xtreme so it deserved an i9 9900KS to go with it not much else to add as I am already running 3200 Ram and m2 drives.

VR in RF9 is pleasing view with the i9 oc'd to 5.3 ghz and I guess Ill look at the FPS at some point if someone asks

Got to spend your money somewhere and if it's on my hobby its money well spent. I don't regret it, and after selling my i7 9700Kfor 300 it was a 200 buck changeover so if you can't afford that, well that is not my problem is it? I'm sorry that is a lot of money to you, we are all different and have different value judgements.
