RCU Bipe

Here is the FlatOuts RC Universe biplane from Great Planes, modeled by Rick Deltenre.

From the release notes:
" 'The RC Universe Biplane excels at competition-style performance, such as precision aerobatics and 3D maneuvers. Licensed by the internet's most active R/C web site whose members number in the hundreds of thousands it's an almost infinite source of flying fun... in an easy, go-anywhere design.'

Special thanks to RCU, Hobbico and Chris Todd."

Thumbs up

Question: Is that plane actually that forgiving In Real Life (IRL)? I've just started flying planes with G3 and this one seems to be almost too good to be true! I could purchase this one off the shelf and be a happy camper for a while (relatively speaking). Thanks for the awesome plane!

VPP 4D RCU Bipe

And here is the VPP (Variable Pitch Prop) version of the Bipe, just hit the upper right hand switch on your Interlink to activate it.

note* must have the 3D base version of the plane installed first

Just tried both versions, super nicely done. Thanks to RCU for nice paint schemes.

Hmm, not sure. Delete the plane using the Manage User Files from Menu by Import, and then re-import it, maybe that will help.

Same error here.

I get that same error as 3dEFlight when I import. The ailerons don't move visually when the stick is moved. Aircraft editor only show one wing as well.

Not sure what I am doing wrong. I extracted the zip file to its own folder in the RFG3 directory, then imported the KEX file. G3 says the import was successful, builds collison mesh first time I select it, then gives the error show above when returning to the field. I have deleted the plane using the "Manage User Files" twice - same result each time.

Fixed it

For some reason, the plng3 file that ends up in the RealFlightG3\Planes directory after import is not the same as the one that is included in the zip file. If I manually copy the file into RealFlightG3\Planes, everything works fine.

If you can't 3D this feather-weight in 30 seconds or so...you can't 3D!

I made the mistake of unzipping it to a folder on the desktop. Then grabbed the KEX file.. oops... Manage user files/delete/ and re-install as the G3X file

You just need to leave it be and import from in game as a G3X file

Thanks Rickster for another fun addition!

I must be really stupid or something. No matter how I try to use these files, I get the same error as 3DEflight. There must be a written procedure for exactly how to download the files, where to put them, and how to import them. I've spent over an hour fooling with this. The plane built fine on my screen and I could see surfaces move. Whenever throttle was applied it just nosed over. Did this plane require an add-on to work?

Paul

Edit - I found the answer in another thread. Th problem was Windows XP. It renamed the file .zip. When renamed to .G3X, all is well.
