Thumbs up 50% Challenger II

I have just finished making a challenger 2 for G3 with the oracle colour scheme.Hope you all like it and if you can improve on the flight physics then by all means do as this is as close to the real thing as i could get but i am still not 100% happy with it so if anyone can make it better then please post the variant as i would love to get it flying 100% accurate.(by the way there will be a bill hempel colourscheme in the next couple of days)

Well, here's my flight model edit. I hope you like it. I haven't ever flown a Pitts, much less a 50% one so I'm not sure how accurate this is . However, aerodynamically speaking, it should be close to how it's supposed to fly.

Enjoy,

Thumbs up Bill Hempel Challenger II

Here is the Bill Hempel 50% Challenger II,Hope you all like it .Because i had to do some retexturing to get the colourscheme right this is a whole new plane and the colourscheme will not work with the oracle challenger so you need to import this as a new plane, the flight physics are the same as the oracle challenger ,so if anyone can make it more realistic then please post the variant .Thanks and enjoy.

Thumbs up

Nice one 50% plane, your variant is much better and i hope you don't mind i have done a version for the Bill Hempel Challenger. What did you change to get it to fly so nice? i noticed you lowered the weight a bit but the real one is 53lbs.

I did a lot of things. It would be hard to explain it all. I learned trimming planes on G3 and I've used these principles on each of my edits. On this one, I changed the airfoil, Made a new engine for it, changed the tail moments, to probably how much the Exclusiv Modelbau(sp?) version is. I changed weights and weight distribution. I also messed around with the CG and much more. One more thing that I did do that isn't on my edit is that I reduced the elevator throw to 35(+and-) from 40.

BTW, there is a lot more that could be done to this plane. I only spent a few minutes on it.

In KE it pulls to canopy right to left. And to gear left to right. Lots of manual mixing is required.

I plan to add a tad bit more rudder. So far so good though. Spins are awesome.

inkys original had way to much torque! Anti torque rolls are a bit much. The aileron authority is weak in hover the way it is. I guess the backside torque needs adj.?

yes that's correct. Like I said, there's a lot that I didn't do. Some people don't know much about mixing and won't mess with it on their real plane, so I try to find a balance. I only put maybe 3 minutes on this edit. I've put hours into other edits. For instance, on Rick Delten's Giles, I'm probably up to 25 hours. I haven't finished it yet and prettymuch just gave up on it for a while. (I've been thinking about working on it again though) As far as the Pitts, it doesn't do an antiTorq roll as the ailerons are out of the propwash, so that's a scale thing. I didn't get a perfect strait line on it from upside down and inverted without correction, but then again, I didn't spend the time. I might upload a better version later, but the one I did was prettymuch what an average sport pilot would fly. I'd love to fly your version though.

Edit: I did lower the black torq to .30 and I uped the fuse weight to 15 pounds after my edit a few post up.

no. You need to install the files ending in EA.G3X before using the ones ending in AV.G3X.

50%:

I like the heck out of your variant; reminds me a lot of how the Edge 540 flew in version .410.

Torque-rolls and tail-slides seemed way to easy to maintain. I was a bit shocked to find how easy it was, after putting it through its paces with most other maneuvers I could think of (almost like it had a gyro with the torques/slides). The thing really winds-up and tumbles nicely. I like that aspect in a 3D plane. Makes it really look out-of-control.

Anyway, that's my personal take with it...nice bird!
