Hawk

I like this one very much. The air-brakes are a very nice touch. The only change that I've made is to put the engine exhaust smoke on the same smoke servo as the wing-tip red smoke generators.
Keep up the great work, much appreciated, many thanks.

Great plane, I tweaked it a little to give it a bit more speed. Here's my variant of it

What software did you use to create this model inky00? It seems that none of your smoothing was carried over in the export and theirs alot of flipped normals (reversed polygons) visible on the model, I also get missing component errors

inky: I really love this jet. It flies great! Excellent job!

I did notice the starboard main wheel turns rearward when the plane rolls forward.

FlyGuy,
I used 3ds max8 to make this model and i would imagine that the missing component names are for the horizontal stabilisers as the hawk has a full movable tail and they are named ~CS_LME and ~CS_RME.As far as the flipped normals go i hadn't noticed but i have had a few problems with my computer lately and have lost the max file so am unable to make any changes, its a shame as i wanted to fix a few things myself but i am afraid this is as good as it gets unless i can be bothered to start again(unlikely). What do you mean about the smoothing not being exported as i am not much good at smoothing so am not sure what you mean.

Hi Inky,

If you do a search for "smoothing group" in the max help file it describes what Rick is talking about.

One thing to note is it that KEX exporter ignores the 3DS max smoothing groups and applies an arbitrary smoothing angle of 45 degrees (I think)

You can force a smoothing angle on a particular object

From Aaron Oki Moore

Quote:
Each ~CS group of objects can have a parameter that specifies its smoothing angle. To change the smoothing angle of an object:

- Select the ~CS object you wish to modify
- Right click on the object and go to properties
- Then go to user defined properties
- There will be a big empty text field where you'll need to enter the following line:
NUP_SmoothingAngleDEG=85

What that will do is set the smoothing angle of that ~CS group to the equivalent of 85 degrees of auto smoothing.

The range that is supported is 0 to 85 degrees.

Smile

Hey, great job on this airplane. I've noticed a whole heck of a lot of good aircraft coming out from what have to be some talented people.

You guys are doing great and KE should be paying you to keep producing these planes and keeping their product competitive!

I have not tried the other flight sims, but I thought about selling G3 and buying Aerofly simply because I wanted to have more planes to choose from. All of the Extras, Giles, etc. from Rick and the other scale and aerobatic models I'm seeing from everyone else have kept this sim very interesting for me. I really think you guys are what keeps it going, so THANK YOU.

Same here

Keep G3, The editor options for the fields and planes are easier to get to change the aircraft. AFPD you need to open a certain file in something like wordpad. The minor adjustments can be done in the sim, but the major work is done out of the program. AFPD does have some good points for planes, but heli's is lacking. You will not have idle up switches with the standard interlink controller or dual rates. I'm sure this is the same for the controller, that comes with AFPD. These functions need to be programmed from an actual radio. G3 still has some issues, but I believe they will be addressed some time soon. There is not a perfect sim out there. Reflex I have spent many hours on heli's, but the planes need serious work out of the box. If I were to put a scale of 0-10 they would be about a 0 starting out and so far after editing the max I have got is about an 7.

The aircraft file to be edited in AFPD is a .tmd.

Yes, keep G3. I've flown them all...a lot. AFPD physics are too "pong" like (read toylike).
