pitching up in ff

hi all, when i mod a heli like the dominion or foiler to use a hyper 50 and 600mm blades they want to pitch up and climb in ff. i tried moving the cg forward, different paddles, different tailboom length. all stock helis fly fine. the controller is calibrated. did the last update do this?...thanks

it is probably your cg. But they will always pitch up a little bit and it pitches up more the faster you are going.

hi, i moved the cg forward so far that the heli wants to drop the nose to drift forward in the hover and the heli still climbs. it actually will start to go into a loop. i don't recall this happening before this last update...thanks..

Smokey:

At the moment I find that G3 pitches up WAY to much in FF for helis.

Then there is the incorrect roll direction in FF...

Both of these are bugs which need to be looked at, along with the spinning helicopter issues, the Jayhawk problems, parameters with no effect, and other bugs and issues.

the Jay hawk problem is fixed when you change the tail rotor rotation about the boom from -14 (Which is what a real one has) to +14 (Due to different Rotor rotation).

Then there is the incorrect roll direction in FF
I know I and you agree that this is present. but I did find that if the Jay hawk was set with a low RRPM it did actually stall to the Right. But that is not the Roll thing we were meaning to talk about.

along with the spinning helicopter issues
I can Fix this . Give me one for an Example.

parameters with no effect
that would be ?? (I forget right now, but do know there are a couple)

the big one is the Roll. (As you mentioned) due to Dissymmetry of lift <I was confusing this with Retreating blade stall> But I did get the Jay hawk to Roll in the correct direction (Not the one on the swaps). (Dissymmetry of lift=Same thing as P-Factor)
and Translational Lift. (I used to call this Transitional Lift)

Very good!

But SSSSHHH!!!!

My hope is that KE would address all of the "bugs" in the upcoming update.

They typically issue an update just prior to each expansion pack, and well an expansion pack is in the works... so....

How about it KE?

And, while you're at it, KE ... considering that this forum's design group is getting more prolific, and you want us to buy expansion packs in increasing numbers, WE NEED A REVISED FILE MANAGEMENT SCHEME that let's us establish and sort directories, and lets us access next-aircraft selections QUICKLY (and did I mention QUICKLY), althewhile letting us access aircraft selections QUICKLY. Well, you get the idea.

of all the helicopters in Real flight to me the only one that pitches up about the right amount is the Jet ranger with paddle head . also if you reverse its head rotation it will roll in correct direction :O sure tail has odd torque direction but once you start flying in forward flight the gyro takes care of that, but the roll and pitch after reversing head rotation. feels allot better . I agree KE needs to address this big time. I have started to save up for reflex because of these helicopter issues. I like Real flight allot but these basic helicopter flaws really need fixing.

this av is for HX3D014 a scale i know. but it is tweaked for 3d Yes Iknow you can bash away, but i use this one, because it has a better feel , in normal and with low rate can use for scale flying. but if you want 3d capability it has it now.
can do chaos with it and tic toc ( i am not good at tic toc yet but i think it can do them).

anyway check out its roll and pitch up . ignore its torque direction and spool up direction, just try in forward flight . if you want more pitch up, make its paddle heavier but it will loose some cyclic speed. but Will pitch up more if you need that effect for practice.

BY The way all scale head helicopters pitch up with speed. all the other seem to not do this (bad) , only the axe cp will pitch up with speed of all the pod and boom i have tried. so that is 3.5 addon 4,5 exp 1,2,3
they should lift up with more air speed because the rotor head becomes more efficient with air speed , also when hit by wind (air speed) it should have more lift . if rotor is rotating clockwise retreating blade has less lift the retreating blade on clockwise is the right hand side not the left hand side but again direction of travel comes into play if helicopter traveling left to right (going right but holding tail to the back facing you) the rotor head would have less lift on the right side of travel so the part facing you has less lift , this goes for what ever direction you are traveling and creating more airspeed.

anyway my 2 non sense.

Gotta wait about 30minutes for av upload gotta change computer, Darn.
be back soon

RE EDIT:
OK file uploaded, try flying left to right and right to left , without FWD and Back correction , see how it reacts to the airspeed will create curve in travel due to rotor head efficiency on one side more then the other also forward flight it will curve off to the right correct direction. how correct i do not know yet, but to me more accurate now. opinions welcome. normal setting, high head speed not needed for test .

A bit off-topic, But.....
Updating the sound profiles of the rotor blades would be a welcome addition.
We need "meatier" sounding rotor blades!

I agree. Would be good to get user sound imports.

ChopperSuey
Nice edit.
Did a RC straight off the bat. no practice no looking at the AV in the Editor.

Did notice the Roll to the other side a little, and I could imagine how that would be surprising when Going from sim to real. maybe it is a natural transition ? Not.

glad to have you on the team of campaigners for the G3 Heli physics fix.

Chopper and OP and anyone else
take the LS jayhawk for a FF Flight and see what way it stall .

OK here is my jay hawk flight 2 I crashed even worse on flight #1 :O
that heli is a animal flys like a Heliboy or some other ancient bird

to hard for me.

BTW this is what i meant on the jet ranger in this recording i flew forward no correction once it gets going so you can see what it wants to do. then right to left and left to right some rudder correct and throttle just to keep it from becoming a chicken dancer .

then for you, my attempt at Chaos :O still working on it. then i got confused while doing my normal flip action. so star burst , then flips and my attempt at tic toc :P
then that nose down deal. i still cant do the tail down one. at all. anyway more practice as they say.

main thing the reaction of the bird in forward and sideways flight i wanted you to see.

sorry about the jay hawk I really did not want to destroy it. ill go practice and learn its habits.

Yes We need KE to fix the Heli physics.
