"Post-Processing 'Bloom'"

How many people actually use this? To me, it makes it look hazy as if it's some sort of "dream" effect in a movie or something. I don't like it. I didn't realize that's what was causing the hazy effect in G3.5 with my nVidia card either in night fields. I turned it off, and everything looks much cleaner.
Who all has decided to not disable the bloom effects? I'd really like to know why...

I agree with you it's to bright.....it's like a "halo" effect around the aircraft. If there was / is a way to tone the bloom down it would be great. (Maybe there is a way and I don't know how) I have used it when capturing some screen shots....at the right angles the right distance away, etc. it looks fine. But overall it's too much of a good thing

Edit: I don't use it while flying in the sim

The Bloom Effect is one of the visual effect developed along Shader 3.0 and directx 9.0(a,b,c) after my knowledge. I firstly saw it in games like Age of Empires 3 massively used. And meanwhile I cannot see it any longer Meanwhile every game - engine makes use of it and gives the scene a very irrealistic lightning which I have never seen in nature such strong before. It "looks" nice, but after a while everything seems to be washed away

Greets,

Max

I like it!
Why? No reason, Personal preference.
As an amateur photographer I think it adds a better look, at least to my eye.
It's not really that overdone like in Phoenix, I think it has just the right amount.

It is good forethought by KE that in can be toggled for those that are bothered by it.
While a nice look, I would welcome multiple lighting in the future, I think right now the shadows are too harsh with only that warm star as the light source.

I don't like it either the way it is. Is there a way to vary the effect? If so I think it would be a usable effect. I too would like to see multiple light sources available though for better shadow rendering.

You can turn down the bloom effect at each airport.

In some airports the default bloom amount is unrealistically high.

A low amount helps mimic that "snow blindness" effect you may get on a bright sunny airfield.

---

BTW: One day at the field I got this quite bad. It was bright out and I had to remove my sunglasses to work on my bright yellow Funtana S90.

After about 20 minutes I could not see anymore.

Ugh...

Oh OK. I'll have to check the settings then. You are right about how unrealistically high it is on some fields. That is why I had turned it off. Good to know it can be varied.
