Question Tailor-made chase view

So far I haven't found a chase view that I like. I flew fixed wing in Papua New Guinea for 7 years into a lot of short and masty strips. Maybe because of that, in G4 I like to be able to see ahead out of the screen and also to look down to see where I am in the landing pattern.

Alternatively, I'd like to have a chase plane following a fixed distance behind the machine to enable a good view on where I'm going especially in the landing pattern.

Occasonally I have a go at some of the aircraft and gliders in G4 but I'm really trying to master choppers as I'm getting into r/c choppers. I can't seem to get anything satisfactory either way. Chase view seems to drift way behind the machine I'm flying and cockpit view seems seems to have such a narrow field of view that it is no easier.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Cheers - Dave

Yeah I agree... it's an RC sim, not MS flight sim.

it may be an R/C sim bu people can mount cameras inside there planes and look from a first person view... maybe you could make the camera tilt in the next sim?

I'd prefer not to have that feature. Most people do not have cameras in their planes. I've never heard of a camera in a (hobbyist's ) RC plane to help the person fly it. Personally, since my interests are RC related, I almost never use the chase or cockpit views. I've always been on the ground when I fly my real plane.

That would seem an easy feature to add as editable by the user. Those who don't want to use it don't need to know about it. Afterall, I'm all for adding features that might expand the fun to be had with the program regardless of what I do with my RC planes in real life.

Google FPV RC planes or simply "FPV". Lots of nice videos on youtube as well.

Edit: here's a link to RCGroups forum dedicated to FPV:

Tailor-made chase view

Yeh, I recognise that it's not MS Flight Sim. Maybe my post wasn't too clear as I was not considering a camera in a r/c chopper.

Maybe what I should be doing is flying G4 from a strip with no extra scenery while I'm learning so that there is no clutter to block the view of my chopper. I can take the chopper out from me and then fly it straight back but I get into problems if I try to fly it in something like to be a circuit pattern.

Thanks for all comments.

Regards - Dave
