Slow loading Photo Fields
Hi
Every time I try to load a photo field it takes a very long time to come up and when it does it has close to a 10 second delay between each command input. This only happens with photo fields, all the others work fine. Any ideas? Bob Russell

I had similar problems. Use full screen. It may be that easy. If not, there's better help coming.

Blade, you should have directed him to post his specs per the Asking for help? thread. Very little useful info in the specs he posted.

same problem
I actually Have the same problem with my G4, or more specificaly its a low frame rate issue. I max out everything with no problems except photo fields. They load fine but with everything turn down I get approx. 1 fps.

Only thing common is the AMD processor, but I doubt that has anything to do with that.
Realflight installed on your I: drive with 3GB of space left? You're probably just running out of resources, why don't you post the full system specs per the sticky? |

I have had the same exact issue ever since I purchased G4 (G3 and G3.5 ran perfectly 3D and photofields both)
My 3D fields in G4 run just fine in "windowed" mode but if I switch to a photofield it loads VERY VERY slow....and the frame rate is at a snail's pace (if not slower) I have to switch to full screen mode for everything to run normal on photofields? I've mentioned this multiple times in the past....with no real answers (I wasn't prying for answers really though) It's just something I've learned to deal with unfortunately. If someone finds the reason, I'd be happy to hear it. |

Well I have tried everything mentioned through out these forums including eliminating all but bare essential processes, none of which have rendered a fix. I personally believe that the flight Sim uses a certain CPU instruction set that INTEL has and AMD emulates like sse2 or mmx etc. (probably quite poorly.) If thats the case then it is not at the fault of Knife Edge (atleast not completely) but rather the processor manufacturer by deploying its CPUs with non-comparable instruction sets. That does not mean that Knife edge could not write new code to make better use of AMD processors though.
Patch may be? Knife Edge? I don't know may be I'm wrong. I have beta tested a large number of PC games (including Call of Duty, NWN2, Quake 4 , Quake Wars, Timeshift, Test Drive Unlimited, and more) and I have never personally seen a weird bug like this 'intel vs amd' thing before, well not exactly anyway. lol BTW iflyinanh it was not an insult but rather a joke. Come on laugh a little.

That would be likely if everyone using a particular AMD processor had exactly the same problem.
However AFAIK this is not the case. There are people running G3 & G4 w/o this problem on AMDs. Maybe this would be good for a POLL! It would also point KE to a potential problem if it exists.
