Probably has to do with installing on e drive instead of C. Default directory usually makes the program less unhappy than non-default locations.

Install error messages
I am unable to even get the software to start to install on the computer. I put the first CD in my drive d: or e: and get the same messages when the CD autoruns. I am fairly sure the software is installing to the C:\drive, since it installed from drive D: on my laptop to drive C: with no problems.
I would like to have it installed on both systems one for when I travel, the other with the 19" screen for when I am at home working. Thanks, Alan |

e:\setup.ini.....
OK,
I can give you some info, but can't solve it... It's installing FROM the E: drive onto the C: drive... This is an error in reading the file, and I suspect it may be from your CD-Rom/DVD when it's reading. Now you need to investigate further - have you 2 CD's so you can try it from the other one, try copying all files to disk and install from disk then remove the files you used... That may give you a starter for 10. Sirus |

alangr: It sounds to me as though either your disk is defective, or your drive is. You should try installing on a different computer--if the installation works well on the other computer, then the drive in your Dell is probably not working properly. On the other hand, if the disk doesn't work in the other machine, you likely have a defective disk and should get in touch with Great Planes Software Support.

A good ( better? ) way to check is to first copy the ENTIRE set of G4 CD's onto a new folder/directory on your hard drive.
This will help to determine if your computer is having problems reading the CD's. I'll bet it is. If it fails, note that this in itself does not tell you that the disks are bad. Your CD/DVD drive could be bad, or you can have a configuration issue, or something screwing up the driver chain that is affecting the file copies. You should post your system info as per the link I gave in my prior post.
