4.5 apparently DOES overwrite your 4.0

It looks like I don't have G4 anymore. Is this because I used the beta method? I thought 4.5 would install along side the 4.0.

No, it's an upgrade to an existing product, not a new product. You can use your launcher to revert to a specific version, though.

Thanks. Going back to 4.0 worked fine. I'll stick with 4.0 unless they improve the sound. Having the screen freeze up every time a new sound is played is just too anoying.

Jeff, are you saying that you can roll back to G4.0 if .5 is not satisfactory, Or that either of the two will run, depending on a choice you make when you open the launcher?

I have a machine that is barely adequate for 4.0 , and from what I am reading, 4.5 might bog down the frame rates so much as to be unsatisfactory.

The computer I am most interested in running 4.5 on is a low profile machine, that would require a half-height video card, so obviously I am NOT going to be able to put a high-end 3D card in it.

Outside of getting a new video card, or a new computer, do I have any options? Or am I stuck with 4.0 ?

Thanks in advance for any answers. Jim

It's G4 or G4.5 not both at the same time.
You could disable a lot of the eyecandy until performance is acceptable.

Jim,
Yes, try G4.5 to see if you like it. It will overwrite your 4.0, but you can use the RF Launcher to roll back to 4.0 if you are not happy with 4.5. Make sure you use phrank's advice to turn down your graphics for a satisfactory performance, but I believe that 4.5 will start with default settings that reflect your system's capabilties. You may need to lower a setting or two, though.

Jeff
