An ISO file is an image to be burned to a disc. (Using a function named "burn image" or similar.) You don't want open it.

Upgrading is a somewhat automatic process. Run Real Flight Launcher, when the screen appears, click on 'Additional Options', Click on 'Registration/Updates', When the on-line updating form appears select 'Update to latest Version'
I don't know how these guys assume that you are pirating. I like to have a physical copy of the software and not rely exclusively on downloading. You still have to have an interlink controller to use the product, so how is it pirating? I would assume that you can purchase a copy of the 4.5 product disks by contacting technical support. In this age of software updates, it will be the latest version for about a month, give or take. Quote:

I think he downloaded RFV4UP_4_50_021.iso from http://www.realflight.com/updates2.html
That's a legit option but the instructions that say "Burn this to a DVD using your DVD writing software." assume you know what an iso file is and I don't think the OP does. |

Apologies to the OP... I had not seen that link for the ISO update before. All too often when people talked about ISO images before we were indeed dealing with pirates... it seems that this just changed! Actually that's quite nice that KE elected to do this too.

Since this has been confirmed to not be a pirating issue, I'll explain what to do with an ISO image.
You have two options: 988MB exceeds the capacity for a CD, so you must use a DVD to hold the image. With your DVD burning software look for an option that says BURN IMAGE. Actual steps will vary depending on the burner used. Second option use software that creates a phantom DVD drive on your computer and mount the image directly as if it were a DVD. Several products will do this, but if you want a open source recommendation search for Daemon Tools.

Or you could use the launcher to update as normal, seeing as how you'll have to update to the newest version after you update to the one you have now anyway.
