R/C airplane gear

Hi,

I don't know if I am allowed to post this thread here, but I don't know where to start, and who to ask either, so hopefully everyone will be kind to me regarding this thread.

I have quite a few questions to fire away, and I hope someone would be kind enough to help me, or at least point me in the right direction to find out the answers to these questions.

Ok, we have been using Realflight G4.5 Simulator, but would like to be adventurous enough to go the next step – BUY A R/C AIRPLANE AND FLY:

My questions are these (and please bear in mind that we are in Australia, so would be looking at purchasing gear from Australia if possible):

1. What would be the best types/models of R/C planes to get for beginner-intermediate flyers? We would be looking at electric motor models to begin with, rather than nitro/gas models. We have looked at a few on eBay, but don’t know if they are any good.
a. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI....id=p2759.l1259
b. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI....id=p2759.l1259
c. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/NEW-RADIO-CON...742.m153.l1262
2. Is it best to buy a complete kit to begin with (which includes transmitter, motors, servos, etc…), or is it best to buy a transmitter separately (such as a Futaba 7CHP 2.4GHz SS FASST or similar) and simply be done with it and use it right from the beginning of R/C flying.
3. If you say, “Go for separate transmitter, motor, etc…”, what would you recommend in the way of:
a. Transmitter (and why)
b. Receiver
c. Motor
d. Model of plane

Thanks in advance,

David

(P.S Does anyone know of any good online forums for discussing R/C aircraft and gear???)

This would be better discussed at a forum site more suited for RC aircraft. Try rcgroups.com

Regarding thread

Thanks Chris for your response.

I appreciate your comment, and I certainly respect the rules and regulations of the forum.

I am more than happy to remove this thread if you would prefer me to - just let me know.

Can you perhaps recommend any suitable forums for discussing this topic?

Thanks,
David
