I've had problems connecting to sessions since I had 4.0. Now, the problems are worse with 4.5. I used to get host could not be reached in 4.0. That happened intermittently and not with all sessions. Ones that I could get on I could get on anytime the session was available in 4.0. Now, session I get one, I sometimes get dropped with the message "The host of the session you are attempting to join is currently busy. Please try again in a couple of minutes." I get that message when I can't get on a session in 4.5 or when a session drops me. I've even had that message come up when the host leaves and I become the new host. And then I'm dropped and get that message. So, that means the host is currently busy and won't let me join the session I'm hosting? How is the host busy that I can't join or get dropped after I'm already in or better yet, when I'm the host and get dropped for that reason? I've also have had several connection failed. I've called the phone support. I was once told that if I could join one session, then that's all they need to help me with. They tell me that they can't fix how people set up their sessions for me to join. But, if a session has 2 or more players in it already with available slots left to join, how would I not be able to join that session? If others can join, why wouldn't I be able to join? I am on dsl. No router. My dsl connection was checked and clear of problems. I have dual 7900 gtx video cards with 512 meg in sli mode. I have 3 gigs of ram. Plenty of hard drive space available. Windows xp. Current video drivers. I tried to attach the info I got from the g4.5 launcher tech support option. But the file is a little too big to upload here.
I like realflight for its teaching sessions, but I have another sim I could have learned on. The multiplayer option is what attracted me. I also have another problem, but I will make another thread for it as it has nothing to do with multiplayer. Anyone experience this? Anyone fix this? Is this problem known? Should I show a video of my attempting to join and this problem coming up? |

Well, I downloaded the beta version. I still have the same errors. I couldn't connect to a session at all that had 2 or more people on it.

This morning, I tried 4 differrent sessions. One of them was need tape's session. I've been in his sessions before. I can't get in his session now. Says that it failed to synchronize with game clock and failed to synchronize with 1 or more players. I got the same problem with 2 sessions and 1 sessions says the connection failed. 1 session let me in then came back saying it failed to link with at least one player to check my router and firewall. No router, firewall off. I play call of duty 2 and 4 mulitplayer. The only time I can't connect is when the versions don't match. Why is it much harder for real flight to have a stable multiplayer connection? Mind you, I've had similar problems with real flight 4 and now that I've upgraded to 4.5, its much worse and I'm lucky to get on one session over a few days.

Many are experiencing the same thing, myself included, AltecLansing.
They are working on it. Meantime, I fly Napoleon Solo (remember The Man From U.N.C.L.E.)? I had some nice collisions on multi last night (when I could stay connected), so all is not lost. Patience, grasshopper! Charles

Personally, I'd love to see them make MP work the way it worked from G2 to G4.0. That way, alot more people could fly together. Sure, the people that don't know how to configure their network won't be able to host, but most people could join a session. When KE works out the problems with the current MP, then they could implement it. But for now, bring back the old way, please!!

Well, I have the most current beta, and I have to say, its not working. I joined need tapes session when he was by himself. I got on okay. Later I joined his session again when he had one other person on there with him. I almost got on, but was then dropped because it said I was unable to sync with at least one other player. When do you guys plan on having these problems fixed? I enjoy the multiplay experience and if I can't do that with real flight 4.5, then I have paid for software that doesn't meet my needs nor meets what it says it can do.

Funny, I called tech support. They said that the problems are known and are being worked on and to post here to get better support. So, if tech support points here, and here doesn't offer any support, then what does that mean? |

Well, in the specific case of the MP problem, there really isn't alot that tech support can do. Not until the kinks are worked out by KE. But GP is responsible for tech support, KE is not. Everyone is having trouble with multiplayer. It's not like the good ol' days when the only people who had trouble with MP lacked the necessary networking skills. We will all have to wait for KE to fix the problem. Patience, Grasshopper, it is still an excellent simulator. Incidentally, regarding your comment on paying for the ability to use the MP feature, look on page 185 of the G4.5 manual found in C:/Program Files/Realflight/Documentation. It states that MP is a trial basis. Actually, it's stated that since G2.

I see that you are defending them. The part in the manual has no bearing to the words written on the box. The manual is not printed on the box. The box says the multiplay requirement is a 56.6 Kbps modem or lan connection. It also has the minimum computer requirements and the optimal requirements. So, if you walk up to this box in the store, it shows it has multiplayer abilities, not that it may be cancelled at any time or that it may or may not work. What is printed on the outside of the box is advertising. It is what draws the person to the product and helps influence purchase decisions. The manual is on the cd in the box. Once the box is opened, you can't return it. It says so right on the box. So, basically, I'm saying that paying money for a product that is advertised with multiplay ability and doesn't offer it doesn't make sense. Other software companies have had similar problems and usually fix the problem quickly. I would say that ke hasn't fixed this problem quickly. What I say is that if they are having problems fixing the multiplay, then perhaps they should hire someone with the ability to fix it, or do more research on the topic. There are several games out there that have multiplay abilities down pat and I'm sure someone in one of those companies can be approached for help. Real flight has a lot of options I like. But it could be better by working out the bugs in a timely fashion.
