Thumbs up Customer Service Win!! - reprise

I'm really happy with KnifeEdge now!

First, they solve my immediate problem (4.5 not working with my laptop) by shipping me a set of 4.0 disks. Now, with the 4.5.036 beta, they have the software working on my crappy little integrated video chipset! The beta is working quite nicely on my Dell Lattitude D620 and the integrated Intel 945GM chipset with shared memory.

Yes, I know that I won't be getting all the new graphics goodness that is in 4.5 and I'm fine with that. The graphics settings are now set to optimize performance and while there are some slight differences in the responsiveness of the models compared to 4.0, I'm pleased with the results. The development team at KnifeEdge deserve some nice new toys to play with for pulling this rabbit out of the hat! I hope someone in KE management takes good care of them.

When I get around to replacing this machine, I will likely take graphics performance into account when making my purchasing decision. I bought this laptop primarily for portable software development. Gaming was not even a consideration.

The top posters (the usual suspects?) need not immediately reply, telling me what I'm missing - I'm well aware of it and after reading your usual canned responses - I don't care to hear your opinions. Maybe after you grow up and move out of your moms basement you will learn to play well with others....

Awesome! I was hoping the new update would get a lot of people running.

Now it'll be easier to sell 4.5 boxes to customers.

This is what he was trying to avoid methinks.

Stay on topic and stop proving the suspicions correct.

He asked the "top posters" not to reply to this thread. You are the #2 poster and have already replied 3 times.

Even adding self proclaimed forum cops to the ignore list still isn't good enough, as they are able to illicit remarks from good posters. More signal, less noise.

He threw out the bait.

You bit.

Looks to me like you got hooked.

And regardless of whether he was nice about it, the OP was right. There are a lot of jerks on this board. I had (what I thought) were some good ideas a year ago, and I got flamed me for it. I was trying to create a project to benefit all of us, help the newbs learn how to model, and generally raise the quality of content production for everyone. Instead, a few bitter people saw it as a chance to fight.

It's that kind of attitude that pushes away the newbies and makes people think twice about posting here. Hell, I only drop in once in a while, because I know that whatever I say, someone's going to take it the wrong way... and they're probably doing it on purpose, just to get a rise out of people. It's really too bad, because if they put that same energy in to being productive, they could probably do some good stuff.

If people on the forums acted like grownups, nobody would feel the need to police the forums. But every time I come in here, I see 2 or 3 examples of people acting like children for every 1 example of someone acting mature.

So I'm not surprised the OP was feeling defensive when he posted that. He was probably expecting half a dozen people to jump down his throat, telling him he's a fool for running integrated graphics. Instead, they're jumping down his throat, telling him he's a fool for being defensive.

See why posting here is a no-win situation?

If someone punches you, do you punch them back or do you ignore them and leave?

Guys please try to keep this thread on topic. Hearing the results of the beta is important to us, it won't do us any good to have to lock this thread because it gets off topic.

Thanks you.

So, as I suspected, the basement boys have polluted this thread as well.

I guess this will be my third of three threads to get locked because of a few bad apples that can't understand that everyone DOES NOT want to hear their voices.
