That looks great. Sorry again about the stretching. I've invested many hours in the finding and watching or reading of tutorials on the subject, and I believe I've settled on a workflow. My models in the future will have much reduced if not eliminated stretching. Hope to collaborate on projects more in the future.
Merry christmas

No worries, I completely understand the stretching and mapping issue, and this was minor, just right at the spot I wanted the vents and the trickery of it all is the challenge I enjoy.
After an extensive net search for Air Sierra Unlimited's logo without result, I just made my own. Short of emailing them for their letterhead, I'm sure this will do. Just need to resize and reposition a bit. There is still a bunch to do, but I think it is coming along nicely. Griff twoeleven |

Incredible reconstruction on that logo. Do you plan to keep the gloss up as much as it is now? It looks like that much gloss mutes some of the detail. Just a question do what you will with it. I'm very surprised and pleased of the interest this plane generated. Go figure.

Actually haven't done much to the spectral map yet, it is a medium grey with only the cockpit blacked out. I will get it dialed in later, just bouncing between working on the color and the normal right now. The vents were the big stopper for the n map, and this missing logo for the color map. I should probably at least darken my grey for now, she's a bit slippery compared to the stock photo still.

Thanks Major...appreciated.
Here's the GR-7's upgraded panel, built around Garmin's G600 with some analog redundancy...Still messing with it but I felt a fictional "glass cockpit" update was in order. Still plugging away on this CS, but I really like how it is shaping up. Griff twoeleven |

First pic: Using a combination of paint, bump, and spectral to give the dash some life, the glass catching the sun as the plane turns.
Second pic: The underside...I feel with confidence the bottom has the torn checkered flag on one tip, I can't be sure what is on the orange wingtip, underside, if anything? Third pic: As straightforward as this scheme looks it has been challenging, the contorted text mixed with a few stretchy places around the fuse requires some patience, but I think it is getting much closer. The left side has been added (notice all of my previous previews are R side only
). I also have lined everything up, L side to R side, wing top to wing bottom, just the little things that make me feel it is almost done.Still missing: I need to add the "Crew Chief" name to the L side under the canopy, and the Ly-con logo to the L side cowl. I think I need some all around cleanup of edges as well. I had intended on continuing the normal map to the seams and rivets on the wheel pants, but there is a tad too much stretching going on there, it looks better without it. These planes get their seams and rivets taped over prior to a race anyway, so I think I will just stick with the cowl seams and buttons, and the canopy lines that are already done and looking clean. Should be done tonight or tomorrow, this has been a fun and challenging project. Griff twoeleven Last edited by twoeleven; 01-05-2011 at 09:37 PM. |

Identical to your PM. I won't do the same.
Check your PMS.
