Help me create/finish a photo-field
I snapped the photo's of my club field and created a panoramic view of the photos using Serif's Panorama software.
The problem is the software didn't finish the sky, and each end. I finished most of the bottom by copying areas right above the place where it was needed, then mirroring (flipping) the area, then pasting it in place. That process don't work for the sky, because the shading is different across the horizon. Can anyone help me finish the photo? I think I can create the field with the photo by following the tutorials I found in this forum. Thanks, Dansmark-PA-260

doctoring in missing areas of the photo usually leads to less than satisfactory results
I'll pm you my E-mail and take a look at what you have so far ( pm me after you've sent it) ideally you really need to go back and do one panoramic sweep of photos as usual ( Level ) and 1 for the ground (at -45 degress and 1 for the sky as well (at +45 degress and then combine all three but you need to work quick between snaps to minimize cloud and object movement with in the scene

dansmark-PA-260, it sounds like you'd probably be better off scrapping what you have and going out there to take more pictures. You need 360 degree coverage, not only all the way around but through the top and bottom too. Think about a globe and you are sitting in the center. Every inch of the surface of the globe has to be included in your picture set.
Every photo field I've done has required well over 100 photos. What the major said is not quite correct. The photos have to cover +90 to -90 and depending on how wide of an angle your lens is (and I would recommend not using a wide angle lens) and if you shoot landscape or portrait, you may need six or seven rows of pictures and not just three.

I am very interested in this thread as I have plans to also do a panorama of my field in the spring. I do not want to hijack the OP's thread but the answer to my question might also be useful to him. Do the clouds moving on the sky shots on a partly cloudy day confuse the stitching software and if so would it be better to wait for a cloudless day for the pictures and add fake clouds later. Thanks

No
what I said was correct I was referring to Camera angle not degree of coverage with 3 passes one level one at -45 and one at+45 will yield a 180 x360 degree coverage YES more rows are better my point was that you need a minimum of three as it seemed obvious that he was trying to do it with just one and then fudge the rest

You're both right, depending on the zoom of the lens. "Borrow" the Google Earth camera, and you could do it with only one pic. Bottom line is that you need coverage of every visible angle.

Delay in completing the Pano
Sorry guys, I got busy...
I'm scraping the photo's I took. A Friend is going to bring a Pro Camera and tripod over to shoot the field. I'll let you guy know how it turns out (maybe even post the Pano for others to see the example). I'll also post my attempt(s) at creating the flying field, and any problems I encounter. Thanks for the responses!
