Mouse abuse as a designer.

I guess it does cost something for us designers to make all this stuff for free. I'm not sure how many clicks my mouse goes through in a given week, but I imagine it's a lot. I'm on my second mouse in under a year and a half and it is developing issues with the left click button. I paid around $40 for this Logitech wireless laser mouse and I thought it was a great quality mouse.

Depending on work load, even if heavy, shoudln't a mouse last longer than a year? The problem this one is having is it registers more clicks than it is recieving. Often it registers double clicks or even triple when I press once on the button.

I spend enough on my hobby as-is, but having to explain to the wife that I need an even more expensive mouse than the last isn't comforting. It might give her another reason to be mad regarding the time I can sometimes spend on my PC making models for Realflight.

So buy a cheap mouse. I think it's a bad assumption that an expensive mouse would last longer.

It was a lot more when I bought it but this has worked great for a couple of years.

The price is right now!

I know it says (Notebook) but it works great on my desktop.

The zoom feature is great also.

I have a $20 M215, Logitech. Make that two of them. Love this mouse with no tail, hehe.
PS, replace the battery, sounds like the receaver is getting a weak signal.
I know when the transmitter bat gets to low, the planes do things we think are bad.

I now stick with the cheap mouses around $10-15

I've spent money on more expensive ones in the past
and for some reason the cheap ones seem to last as long ........sometimes even longer !!....go figure

I replaced the batteries yesterday and still had the same issue. I normally would just go for the cheaper mouse as I've always done in the past, but I like the precision of the mouse I have now. It's actually noticeable when compared to the other mice we have at home.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I'll look into them and figure out what I'll need to do. I may take apart my mouse and see maybe if dust or something is causing the button to freak out.

My generic microsoft jobbie has been going strong for 6+ years now. We just got the new Logitech M515 for our HTPC and L.O.V.E. it. Works anywhere on anything.

I have been using trackballs for years.... not the thumb ball... can't stand those. And the ball has to be ping-pong ball sized. The wireless are not dependable. If they would just add a scroll wheel, it would be perfect... they last forever and are easier on your arm. I know, some people don't like them.... I do.

I used this device in the past when I was in to counterstrike. It's meant as a replacement for your keyboard. You rest your hand comfortably and use the programmable keys for whatever software your using. It would be a cool device for keyboard shortcuts when using a 3d software package.

Thanks for reminding me of this product. I grabbed one from ebay and just received it this morning. Within a couple of minutes I had it programmed for use with Max. It works so incredibly well. Even if your not a big user of keyboard short cuts this thing will turn you into one. It has increased speed and efficiency. I highly recommend this to anyone who models or color schemes. It's now known as the belkin n52te. Got mine brand new for just over $50.

I can't comment on the "Nostromo n52" but I can say that the MX revolution is as dependable and as tough as they come. Been beating mine up for years without a problem. Oh yeah... whatever they have for a battery in this thing is still trucking along like the day it was new.
