Introduction

Hello all, my name is Mark. I have some glider and power plane experience, and bought Real Flight to learn cp heli flying. Any tips or suggestions would be welcomed.

More of a how to use simulator then what to do with it

This is not really a place to learn the steps to fly collective pitch helicopters... the steps are well outlined on many websites. One that I like is Radd's School of Rotary Flight. He lays it all out for you in incremental steps. Site is Free, Google it.

There are some tools within real flight including a hover function, and many flight recording on aerobatic maneuvers. You need to learn to hoover first and foremost.

In my opinion. I have not been paid for my opinion. I do not represent anyone but myself. I have not been given any free products used to form my opinion.

My mom use to make me "hoover" the whole house before I could go outside.

Do the sim flight training maybe. I have only done the slope soaring a heli and piro-flip training, but I would imagine the rest of the training simulations are quite useful.

I learned to fly helis the hard way with no sim. It was only when I got into nose-in hovering and 3D that I required a sim and I got the worst of sims to practice on a good year and a half before owning Realflight.

Hey ... try to fly the CP helis on the sim and also use the hover trainer. It will click after a while. I taught myself on realflight and the transition to a "real" heli was uneventful.

Good luck!

Thanks Carl. I'm doing OK in a hover with the "Blade" Heli. Not perfect, but I've only had one bad crash so far. I'm running on the "intermediate level". The beginners level was kinda slow to respond. The intermediate feels much more like how my Blade MSR responds.

BTW, I'm running the program on my iMac using parallels. I don't think my graphics card is up to snuff, so the aircraft are white. This makes flying in the clouds next to impossible. I might look for another PC to put the sim software on.

Many folks have reported problems running RF with Parallels
some , most can't even get it to run at all .....

So Parallels COULD be your only problem ...
Mac users who have had success Running RF
use Bootcamp instead

I found this info in a facts thread.

Q. CAN I RUN REALFLIGHT ON A MAC?
A. Yes, but with some limitations. You must be using a Mac with an Intel processor, and you must use Boot Camp to boot your Mac using Windows XP or Vista.

Does your Max have an Intel processor?

I also found this:

http://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=103940

You must have a legal copy of Windows to install with Bootcamp.

I don't have a Mac and I can't be of any real help other than finding links related to this topic. I only have PC experience.

Well, according to a simple forum search, this guy resolved the white plane problem in parallels.
