Hallo together,
first please sorry my poor english. Existing any plans to create an dedicated (linux) server for RealFlight 6? Every great multplayer-game has released dedicated servers because there have much better response-times from the server to the clients - thats improve the speed with them the data are exchanged between the computers. another benefit is that the host can run 24 hour per day without pushing down my internetspeed at home. Thank and best regards from snowy switzerland corallus |

RF only runs a list server. Sessions are hosted by RF customers. There is no dedicated server that hosts sessions. Which operating system you use is irrelevant. How do you get RF running on Linux? I've not heard any success stories yet.

I host also Left4Death2, FarCry, CounterStrike and Call of Duty Sessions on my webserver ... no of this games are playable on linux - but there are well working Dedicated Server - Software for this available. You have next to no chance of having your server. I don't see it happening. But that's KE's call.
I'm still working on the Bowlus. Then it goes to the Maj. for painting. It'll be a month or two before its ready. Thanks for asking |

KE historically does not answer questions like yours. (That said, if they do, I'll bet you a car they say they have no plans to offer server software for users.) If you want to offer a session from your server, you'll have to install RF on that server, and host a session.

Good luck to you. Pardon me if I don't hold my breath waiting on KE to send you RF server software.

The software is not hosted on any server any where. There is a list of players requesting connection on the Knife Edge server. ALL the sim software is actually running on a local host and connections to the individual host is provided. Now if you are requesting to host an alternate list server, that might make some sense. But the software does not currently offer the opportunity to connect to an alternate list server. The software would have to be re-designed to offer that capability... but others here might call that bloat.

Yes, they might. I've never been a fan of unattended MP sessions. There is no reason for any user to host a 24/7 server. Flying alone in someone else's unattended session is pointless.

That's a lot of intelligent humans running Windows Web servers. As already pointed out, there ARE NO Realflight "servers". The software operates on a client to client basis.
