Radial Rocket

Next up, as requested by a guy who just won't do the decent thing of requesting a model and ditching the build, as any self-respecting member does, is a Radial Rocket. This is a home built aerobatic airplane. It is powered by a 9 cylinder engine. I don't know what kind of details I'll focus on. I'm open to suggestions, especially by kmot. I have the scene set for a 78" wingspan. That's not set in stone. I looked for an RC version of this plane, but I did not find one. Since I'm creating a backlog in the paint booth, I'll take my time getting started on this one.

Looks like it's based on a Reno Bearcat

Looks are like that of an F8F, but seeing this one :

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=SZLSfC3mHN4

I see its a kit. (composite). Looks as though they used the lines of a Bearcat
~ vstab, high main LG in order to swing a bigger prop, bubble canopy and of course, that of it being a radial.

Sharp looking plane

I said in my post that it's a home built. What it's based on is irrelevant to me. I've found plenty of good reference pictures of the actual plane. I have no issues of you discussing amongst yourselves in this thread what it was inspired by or based on. Please don't feel like you need to provide me with that for the build.

It looks more like a Yak... both reno racer and stunt plane.

Time for a progress shot. I've got some good interior pics of this plane. I think I'll put seats, etc. in this one, if it pleases the court.

I have the rough fuselage and vstab done. I've never created the vstab first, in previous builds. I always go from the fuselage to the wing. Also, I created just the vstab on this one, and extruded the rudder from it. Normally, I create wings and control surfaces as a whole, and then loop cut the control surfaces. I did use use a helper cylinder to shape the vstab.

Is it possible in Wings to ,in affect, draw edges onto the surface of your fuselage geometry? Max has the Cut tool to accomplish this. This would allow you to draw the airfoil of the vertical stabilizer directly onto the tail and then extrude the v-stab from that. I'm just curious if wings allows it or not.
