Error: "Could Not Find Contents File.... Import Failed"; Import RealFlight Archive

First post here. Great forum. Hope you guys can help.

I have just installed RF6 and updated to the latest release. Was hoping to load my current model (Art-Tech Diamond 2500) in the simulator.

I followed the import instructions for an Arcraft Model file from the G5 swap pages, but I get this error message ....

Error: Could Not Find Contents File in Art-Tech Diamond 2500 PRO_EA. Import Failed.

Here's the swap page: http://www.knifeedge.com/forums/down...=file&id=13662

I see on the download page, a version yellow bang comment that the file was imported from an earlier version and may not behave as expected. Nothing about not importing to latest version of RF6.

Is this file incompatible with RF6? Any help appreciated. Thanks

It is compatible with RF6. Read this thread for importing information. http://www.knifeedge.com/forums/showthread.php?t=28643. I haven't loaded that plane since I've had RF6, but you should not get that error while importing.

Jeff,

Well I downloaded the file a second time, placed it in the RealFlight 6 Documents folder.

This time it appears to install properly. Model loads in the simulator and now I see inside the 'Custom Models' folder, a folder called 'Art-Tech Diamond 2500 PRO' as well as a BSE file similarly named. Inside the folder are seven files (dds(3), tga(3), & 3D model).

So I'm not sure what happened the first time. ... Must have been 'operator' error instead. Thanks for the quick reply and help.

RFX or G3x files should NEVER be manually "Placed" in any folder , anywhere

They need to be IMPORTED into RF , FROM WITHIN RF
just DL the swap file to wherever your default Download folder is
then
Open RF
go to
Simulation > Import > RealFlight Archive (RFX G3X)

navigate to your default Download folder
find and select the file you wish to import and hit the Open button
thats it !
you should get a message in RF confirming the Import

Hmm.... never got a confirmation of the import being successful. But it looks to be.

Thanks for the suggestion Major...I placed it there since my first (unsuccessful) try was from my downloads folder. I'll manually delete the compressed downloaded file from the RF6 Documents folder.

I now see other files in other folders that were saved by the import as well.

Thanks

I'm still not clear if you are manually placing files, or using RF's import routine. If your browser is changing the swap file type to .zip, DO NOT UNZIP IT! Import the .zip file using RFs import process.

I just loaded that model in RF6. I think it still flies well. Any time a model from a previous version of RF is loaded in RF6, you'll get the warning about it possibly needing tweaked to fly well.

Sorry, The Import worked after the second download. I just 'manually' removed the compressed file from the RF6 folder in 'Documents'.

I really don't know what the problem was with the first download, but it gave the error message described.
