MotionCrop teaser

Some of you might find this kind of cool because it should remind you of the binocular gadget.

Here is a video of a recent flight of mine at the World Aerobatic Championships:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3GL0jAZn5Qw

I wrote some software to crop around the aircraft like the binocular gadget does. I call it "MotionCrop".

Here is the same video after processing with MotionCrop:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NJEDFW_lXgY

I've been using this software all year to help me with my practice. It could be useful for R/C planes as well, though there are some limitations.

At some point I'll release it and maybe you can get a binocular cam in real life!

Jim

Jim,
I would be interested in how you had the video shot. What equipment was used? Was the camera handheld or was a tripod used? Were you using a tracking device?

I have spent a lot of money trying to do this, so I welcome some software help in clipping the image.

I'm sorry I don't have any details on the camera, except that it is a DSLR with a 200mm lens, I think, and is handheld.
