RAF SE5a Scout

For a while there I thought I was a goner my 3ds Max 2012 student license was expiring and I wasn't sure if I'd be able to get a new one, but I was able to get a new 3ds Max 2015 license so now I can keep modeling for another three years. Thank you Autodesk. So with RF-8's new FBX export method and my fresh install of 3ds Max 2015 I'm ready to go again, many thanks go to the KE team for the new export method and the increased triangle count. Very Cool Guys!

So with that said I've been working on the SE5A and have it fully mapped, every single part and all the wires, and went back and removed all the baked on colors and have been creating a color scheme to paint everything. I'm mostly finished with the basic colors but haven't done anything with the compass yet but here's 3 pictures of it in RF-8 so you can see where I'm at.

It's going to be great to see the extra detail in your scale planes now with RF-8.

Yes it will be nice to be able to add the things I want rather than being limited by the 27k limit, but this plane is probably my limit for detail... lots of parts.

When I first started modeling I did each required process in a sequence to get to the end, but now days I'm all over the place and do the part I want to see next. By that I mean I haven't done the 1x1 mapping yet but started on the normal map this morning. I just wanted to see something on the wings besides a flat texture. The only thing I've done so far is the wings but here's a picture of what I have.

I finished the normal maps for the Horizontal Stabilizer, Elevator, and Rudder so here's another picture of the whole plane. If anyone is interested in a beta let me know and I'll upload one.

Thanks for replying .. You know I'm ALWAYS interested in your work. I just grabbed your Radial Racer from the new swap pages. I'll wait on uploading the colors I did for it a day or so.

Here's a beta of the RAF SE5a Scout it's not perfect yet but it's pretty good. I still haven't done the 1x1 mapping but for the most part none of the items I've added to the color scheme cross borders, a couple do but ignore them they're very close and I'll fix them before release but I was in a hurry to see it look like something so I took some short cuts. I also haven't worked on the Spec Map it's just a single color so things will look better when I finish it. But all it all it looks good and fly's good so you can have fun with it.

IMPORTANT: BE SURE TO OVER WRITE THE ENGINE WHEN YOU IMPORT THE PLANE. I've modified the engine curve to give it a bit more power, not very much but a little. I want it to fly more scale than a typical RC engine curve but I wanted it to have just a touch more power.

ALSO thanks go to Legoman for sharing his engine sound resource with me so I could create the Wolseley Viper Sound Profile.

I ALSO used DHK79's Normal Map style again so thanks go to him too.

Fire Guns: Channel 8 3 Way switch Away from You
Smoke: Channel 7 Switch
Brakes: A small amount using up elevator
