Maybe it's the operator not the software.

I've been running RF about a year now and have been happy 99.99% of the time. I've used it on three different computers. I only had real trouble once and traced it to a bad install of W'98.

Yes the disk swapping is a drag. But that doesn't happen very often.

I can't believe that it runs as well as it does. Think about how complicated this program is. It figures out what a plane would be doing in all kinds of situations and then gives you a visual representation of the result. From what I can tell it is very realistic in the result.

If you think that the price is too high, that's too bad. I doubt if they have a very large customer base compared to most other programs. If you want to buy some expensive software that still comes out with bugs, try AutoCAD. $3000 per copy even though they have a huge customer base.

Users are always the final beta testers, or we would have to wait 5 years for simple programs.

Quit complaining and try to help find a work-around for the very few problems we have

If you haven't yet, try checking out the other post in here where other's have had problems with G2 and in the end have had their problems fixed.
And in most cases, it wasn't the software that was causing the problem. This is a very good sim.

I've played games that are much more complicated than this that are more stable. Unreal Tournament for one. Why can't they fix the disk swapping? Seems to me the guys who wrote the software forgot everything or left the company and now others are trying desperatly to figure out the code. I'm running the latest patch that Scott gave me, 272 which was supposed to fix the casino game, but guess what? I have to swap every time I run the program! Others only sometimes. Why all this incompatibilty?

I do realize that any realised software will have bugs to be fixed with patches, however it should be a little more refined before it goes out.

I do agree it is a great simulator, graphics wise anyway. I have CSM as well and it's much more realistic in the physics area than RF. Hey, and it runs perfectly to boot!

I don't mean to sound sore and like I'm bitching a storm, I just feel a little frustrated that they can't get a patch to work either!

Enough. Rant mode off. I'm sure Scott and the others will eventually fix things and I will once again be a happy sim'er.

I guess I disagree to some extent. For one I guess I have been lucky and have had hardly any problems aside from mutiplayer. I had some troubles with graphics, but that was hardware not software.

Another thing is, you can't compare any other type of game to a flight sim as there is so much more physics involved for the computer to chew on.

Anyway some people get cranked up over bugs, some don't.

I dont own CSM, but have tried it. I didn't think it was any better than RealFlight, wasnt worse either just felt different. Infact of all of them I have owned or tried there are none better IMO. Some maybe equal in realistic flight, but they dont have all these nice graphics to treat us too.

Hi. Sorry to hear the 272 version is not working for you. Hopefully you sumbitted a bug or emailed us about this. It may not be until next week before we can address this. I can assure you it did go through serious Beta testing and that this excessive disk swapping is only a problem for a small amount of people (Which is why it is taking longer to fix it, since we cant replicate it). Unfortunately, it is an anoying problem so those afflicted tend to be vocal.

Please have some patience while we try to work through it.

To get the record strait, I said this G2 is a very good sim, that's wrong. In my unhost opinion, G2 is an EXCELLANT sim, not just a very good sim. I've been flying rc planes and Heli's since around 1970 or so, and G2 is very, very close to the Real Thing. This is for 1Tiger, I don't really like getting on someone's case, as I did and am doing with you, but come on, talking about a direct competitor of G2 here is just plain super uncool!
Sorta like if a Coca Cola representative set up an information boot at a Pepsi plant or function. And by the way, I talked to this guy here about G2 and he ended up picking up CSM instead. He then called me and told me that he couldn't get it to run on his computer and he asked me if I could help him. I told him he'd have to figure it out on his own and that he should have purchased the G2 instead, like I suggested.
This is RF's disscussion board, not CSM's! Want to talk about CSM, please do it somewhere else!

Not personally offended. It's the nature of these discussion boards. We REALLY appreciate support (thanks Slider ;-) ) and we also appreciate constructive criticism. We just ask for specifics from those who do criticize so we can actually act on it.

There's no need at all to thank me for supporting you folk's, it's me that should be thanking you folks.
I'm sure there are a bunch of other guys who also feel the same way. I guess I'll try to be more diplomatic in the future when trying to express my views, but sometimes......
