REVERSE THRUST

I’m having a problem that I can’t figure out with the plane file “ultimate3D.zip”, which was downloaded from The Unofficial G2 Swap Page.

Anyhow, I’m trying to determine if I’m missing something here with the set up, or is it a software bug?

My problem is;

When at low airspeeds less than 15 miles per hour (maybe not a factor, I can’t really tell), with maximum deflection on the elevator, in either direction and throttle is advanced to full, the propeller produces reverse thrust. While amusing and entertaining for a while, now I’m trying to correct the situation.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Big Al

I'm guessing you are using the usb version.
Am I correct?

I fly everything there is. I crash all that I have. (Sometimes) And I always pick up my trash.

Negative! Transmitter interface with version 533 and I haven’t noticed this behavior with any other plane and I’ve tried almost all of them.

Have you flown that particular plane?

Then this is a new one. I've never seen negative thrust before.

If this only does this on one plane then it
might be a corrupted plane file.

If it does it on most of them then something else is wrong.

If you were running usb then I thought it was going
to be another version of the unstable tx problem.

Why don't you email or call support on this one?

AC,

It only happens with this plane. I’ve deleted, downloaded and reinstalled twice now with the same results.

I thought it may have been a software bug related to extreme deflection of the elevator, 60 degrees. So I first went to technical support, but because it’s a user defined plane it is not supported and they recommended this forum.

I’m going to continue to play with it, maybe it has something to do with the skin / plane combination.

Thanks,

Big Al

Nope its not reverse thrust. The plane is set up with so much area and so much throw on the elevators, the sims thinks the plane is moved backwards by prop thrust. Not realistic, but fun to mess with

Buckaroo,

I think you're right, I've played around with it this evening and it has to be a flaw in the code, which controls the physics of flight and the interaction by a large control surface at extreme deflection. I haven’t proved this, because I haven’t been able to duplicate this behavior on another plane, but have been able to stop it by reducing the throws on the “ultimate3D”.

It is a hoot to play with, adds a whole new unrealistic dimension.

Thanks,

Big Al

PS: Were you able to replicate this on your machine?

Yeah It will do it on mine too. I have done some really silly stuff with it.

Eric,

Thanks boss, at least now I have ground truth and I know it’s not just my machine.

Thanks again,

Big Al
