Having trouble editing a plane

For instance the YAK 54 3D stream.
If I kill the engine and go and select edit I can hear the engine startup and all the settings in engine start flickering about!

How do I edit a plane without the engine running?

Is there a way to edit the plane without the TX connected?
I'm using the Transmitter Interface (G7)

you can't stop it but you can turn off the engine sound in the editor under options play engine sounds

you can shut off the engine in the editor by pressing the F key to remove the fuel from the fuel tank. press the f key to re add the fuel. you don't need to do the re add fuel before leaving the editor

as far as the transmitter interface I don't know
